The MultiService Access Point model 630 (MAP-630) was designed with three radios for the highest levels of wireless network performance and intrusion prevention: two radios deliver simultaneous wireless access for 802.11a and 802.11b/g clients, while a third is dedicated to continuous RF scanning.

Total wireless access, total wireless security

The unique design of the MAP-630 unites client access and RF security in a single solution providing total access with total security, offering superior performance, security coverage, and cost. Colubris' innovative tri-radio solution meets enterprise needs by eliminating compromises between wireless access and security that are inherent in competing WiFi solutions, without adding the expense of an overlay security network.

A dedicated RF sensor is fully integrated into the MAP-630 access point to provide total security of the 2.4GHz and 5GHz frequency bands. This innovation provides uninterrupted scanning for wireless intrusions without stopping client access. This is in contrast with competitive offerings that split time between traffic handling and security scanning, leaving a hole in security and causing a severe performance impact on application delivery, with particular damage to delay-sensitive applications such as voice, video, and streaming media.

Concurrent to RF security, two additional radios in the MAP-630 provide total access to end users over two frequency bands. With this design enterprises have the flexibility to deliver secure wireless services in a number of different configurations to support both 802.11a and 802.11b/g clients in demanding multi-application environments or to provide secure local mesh networks in areas with limited wired infrastructure.

  • Two radios designed for client access and/or local mesh coverage. All client traffic forwarded directly from source to destination without side-trips to the controller (unless by design)
  • One RF sensor for continuous scanning for wireless intrusions without interrupting client access. Sensor feeds information to Colubris RF Manager
• Integrated antenna, configuration as either omni-directional or patch (directionally-focused) antenna
• Plug & play central manageability via the Colubris MultiService Controller
• Enterprise-grade features, including QoS, security enforcement, virtual networks, plenum-rating, Gigabit Ethernet connection, and Power over Ethernet (PoE)
