This Mesh series of carrier-grade radios
marks the launch of the dual radio
mesh product line. This product
features a powerful, dual-radio network
processing board pre-loaded with the
versatile and robust LigOS software
package, all enclosed in a rugged cast
aluminum, hinged enclosure. The unit
comes complete with two high power
Atheros-based mini-PCI radio cards
capable of operating in the 802.11a or
802.11b/g bands. This outdoor mesh
access point, also features two external
N-connectors, allowing for flexibility
in antenna configuration to match your
application. The dual-interface design
presents a variety of configuration
possibilities including dual AP, AP
repeater, and redundant PtP bridge with
STP.
The powerful core OS offered by the
LigOS software suite offers an abundance
of flexibility, stability, and
management features that are not present
in other WISP products on the market
today. This robust software platform
coupled with the versatility in hardware
configuration makes this a cost
effective, outdoor wireless mesh access
point. Use this Access point as a
universal, customized radio solution for
almost any wireless application.
Using a mesh type access point
like this one will benefit your network in
reducing processing power on the radio.
If your site requires multiple access points
spread across a large area, then you will
have to connect those access points via WDS
mode, which will extend your coverage area,
but reduce your overall throughput.
When using a mesh access point, which in
essence is a dual band radio, operating in
2.4GHz, and another frequency, (Usually
5GHz), the connection between the access
points is done via the 5GHz radios, and the
wireless hotspot access to your guests is
done via the 2.4GHz radio. This speeds
up your throughput between radios, and
allows you more expandability on the 2.4GHz
side. This dual band radio has dual NF
antenna connectors, which allows you greater
flexibility when designing your network.
You can have a various number of
combinations. 2.4GHz on both radios,
5GHz on both radios, or a 2.4GHz on one, and
5GHz on the other, creating the mesh network
described above.
