DUAL RADIO
802.11N + 802.11a/b/g
Colubris introduces the industry's first
intelligent 802.11n access point, the MAP-625!
The Multiservice Access Point model 625
(MAP-625) is the first product in Colubris's new
MAP 600 family of high-performance,
enterprise-class access points. Its dual-radio
design features Always-n technology which
unlocks the additional bandwidth of 802.11n,
while simultaneously supporting legacy
802.11a/b/g devices.
802.11n migration
considerations
The new 802.11n standard was designed for
backward compatibility with legacy 802.11 a, b
and g client devices. Unfortunately even a
single legacy device can significantly reduce
the speed of the 802.11n network, sacrificing
the investment made in the new technology. While
most organizations will not upgrade their entire
WLAN at one time, you still need to protect your
investments — for the new ultra-speed 802.11n
and for legacy a/b/g devices. Colubris
can help. The dual radio included in the
MAP-625 offers both 802.11n speed with an
additional 802.11b/g radio for backward
compatibility for WiFi clients.
Designed for 802.11n
speed (Up to 100Mbps typical, N client card
required)
Colubris' dual-radio MAP-625 features
Always-n technology which allows
simultaneous support of both 802.11n and 802.11
a/b/g. This eliminates the performance penalties
associated with 802.11n backward compatibility,
protecting the investment you've made in new
technology, while continuing to support your
investment in legacy devices. This full-speed
802.11n WLAN will allow you to implement new
applications and services, including voice,
imaging, and videoconferencing, transforming
your wireless network into an integral
enterprise network component.
Deploying 802.11n is as simple as adding a
MAP-625 to the network, without any hidden costs
or forklift upgrades. The award-winning Colubris
Intelligent Mobility Solution is 802.11n ready
today, requiring no disruptive upgrades,
architectural changes or additional peripheral
equipment. Our optimized WLAN architecture —
intelligence at the edge plus central control —
supplies the essential performance and sustained
wireless capacity required by 802.11n networks.
With this architecture Colubris offers a smooth,
incremental and cost-effective migration to
802.11n, with no disruption to your wired
network.
