Increase your Range by adding multiple Access Points to your network!
Use this wireless hotspot package to reach clients up to 1 mile away, (client antenna required) when you don't need to cover the entire 360 degree area. This antenna directs its signal from 90-120 degrees of your park or marina, and has the ability to be tilted downward to reach even more clients. For the best signal strength to your customers, please connect this antenna to at least a 500mW Access Point. The stronger the transmit power on the access point, the better performance you will see from the antenna.
The strength of the connection depends on the weakest link between the two devices, meaning that if your clients have a PCMCIA laptop card, with no external antenna connected to it, they will not be able to connect to your antenna at a mile away. With this antenna broadcasting the signal, and a standard integrated wlan card in your laptop/phone/ipad, you can count on getting about 1000-1500ft. before loosing the signal. For additional coverage, or farther distance, repeaters will be required. Please contact us for a more detailed solution.
This antenna setup works great for start-up WISP's, small RV-Parks, small Campgrounds, or Marinas looking to provide coverage in a dedicated area or single direction. The included 120 degree sector antenna can be mounted at your main office, and pointed in the direction of your campground, or Marina. If your main office is located in the center of the area you wish to cover, then choose a omni directional antenna setup, which will cover 360 degrees. For maximum coverage, you can use 3x 120 degree sector antennas, which will provide a stronger signal then the omni antenna approach.
When choosing an access point to power this antenna, we recommend at least 500mW TX/RX power. This will provide a stronger WiFi signal. Outdoor access points that are powered via POE (power over ethernet) are recommended so that the access point can be installed outdoors, next to the antenna. A single Ethernet cable is the only connection down to your indoor network. This will reduce installation time, and provide for a more stable WiFi network.
Note: These antennas require Line-of-Sight to its clients in order to establish a secure, reliable connection. If you have LOS obstructions, then please take a look at our pre-packaged NLOS (Non Line-of-Sight) Wireless Hotspots. For increased range at RV parks, Campgrounds, or Marinas, we recommend using more then one antenna system for reliable coverage.
