Most people think of coaxial cable as the cable running through their walls with a cable TV connection, which is commonly referred to as RG6 or RG59 coaxial cable.  This type of cable uses a F-pin coaxial connector.  F Type connectors and RG6 cable is not used for 802.11 Wi-Fi access points and antennas.

Wi-Fi access points, antennas, as well as other frequency ranges from 900 MHz to 6 GHz wireless applications use coaxial cable that can support the frequency range of 900 MHz to 6 GHz.  Such coaxial cable is LMR195, LMR240, LMR400, LMR600 and LMR900.

Coaxial cable connectors and assemblies are available in 50 Ohm and 75 Ohm RG styles. In addition GNS Wireless stocks thousands of low loss 50 Ohm  antenna RF cable assemblies, RF pigtails and bulk cable for all your wireless and Wi-Fi application needs.

Coaxial cable connectors include: BNC, SMA, TNC, Type F, RCA, SMB, MCX, MC-Card, Type-N, and more. We carry RF coax connectors and tools such as cable strippers, coaxial crimp tools, and pin crimp tools to accommodate all of your coaxial termination requirements.

Coaxial Cable Threading:

RF coax connectors with threaded mating (screw-on types) employ a jack with external threads and a rotating, internally-threaded coupling nut on plugs. These types can be hand-tightened or, for best performance, torqued to specified figures with a wrench.  Coupling nuts of threaded connectors may pull off if over tightened, because the strength of their retaining mechanism is generally less than the force required to strip the mating threads.  Reverse Polarity threads can sometimes have the thread on the inside of the nut, with a female pin in the middle, such as a Reverse polarity SMA RF connector.  For more information on different types of RF coaxial cable connectors, please contact GNS Wireless today.
