Cambium Networks Restructuring: Important cnMaestro Cloud Update
Cambium Networks is currently undergoing a corporate restructuring that may affect the future availability of its cnMaestro Cloud management platform.
According to Cambium Networks, cnMaestro Cloud is expected to remain operational through at least October 1, 2026. The company has not yet confirmed whether cloud management for Enterprise Wi‑Fi devices will continue without interruption after that date.
Your Cambium Access Points Will Continue to Operate
A possible interruption to cnMaestro Cloud does not mean your Wi‑Fi access points will stop working.
Cambium access points store their configurations locally and will continue to operate normally using their existing settings, including:

Wi‑Fi network names and passwords

Security settings
-
Radio and channel configurations
-
VLAN and network settings
-
Other locally stored configurations
Each access point will also remain accessible through its local web interface using its assigned IP address. Individual access points can still be monitored, configured, and maintained directly through this interface.
What Could Be Affected?
The primary feature potentially affected is cnMaestro’s centralized cloud management.
Without cnMaestro Cloud, administrators may lose the ability to make group configuration changes across multiple access points from one dashboard. Configuration changes may instead need to be completed individually through each access point’s local IP address.
Existing configurations will remain in place, and the access points should continue providing Wi‑Fi service normally.
Is cnMaestro On-Premises the Solution?
Cambium is currently recommending that Enterprise customers consider migrating their access points and switches to a locally hosted version of cnMaestro.
However, this is not necessarily a permanent or cost-free replacement for cnMaestro Cloud.
Cambium’s current migration plan includes a 90-day trial of cnMaestro X. When the trial expires, the on-premises installation is expected to revert to the more limited cnMaestro Essentials feature level unless paid licensing, an extension, or another arrangement becomes available.
An on-premises installation also requires:

A compatible local or hosted server

Installation and migration of the existing devices

Ongoing server maintenance and backups

Network security and remote-access planning

Possible licensing costs for advanced features
Cambium has stated that it plans to release an on-premises version for Wi‑Fi access points and switches that does not depend on its Cloud Anchor service. However, the final software, licensing terms, and long-term support arrangements have not yet been confirmed.
For these reasons, GNS Wireless is not currently recommending that every customer rush into an on-premises migration. The access points will continue operating without the cloud, and the cost and complexity of an immediate migration may not be justified while Cambium’s long-term plans remain unsettled.
What Should Customers Do?
No immediate action is required for the continued operation of existing access points.
GNS Wireless is monitoring the situation and evaluating the available management options. We will provide additional information when Cambium confirms the future of cnMaestro Cloud, its on-premises platform, and its Enterprise Wi‑Fi product line.
Customers should avoid factory-resetting their access points. A factory reset could remove the locally stored configuration and make recovery more difficult if cnMaestro Cloud is unavailable.
